Job Summary
Responsible for carrying out the instructions of the Director of Wellness. Supervise and monitor nursing staff to obtain highest quality care by performing routine nursing duties. Accountable to Director of Wellness / Executive Director for all nursing department activities and maintaining the corporate philosophy of quality care.
Duties and Responsibilities :
Supervise HHAs, CNAs and the facility staffMake daily rounds of all Assisted Living residents and retirement residents if neededObserves and reports symptoms and conditions of patients to Director of Wellness "DOW" / Delegating R.N. / PhysicianAdministers medications and treatments per signed doctor's orders in an accurate, safe manner, observes effectiveness and reports to physician if neededInforms DOW of when supplies and equipment are neededOrders medication from pharmacy when neededSupervises the Home Health Aide to ensure that all nursing care is given properly, safely and of the up most qualityAdministers emergency first aidAssures that daily assignments for patient care, incidental duties, performed by nurse and HHA as outlined by Director of Wellness are carried out. Re : Nurse / HHA documentation, Ex : V / S, weights, nurse's notes, medication, kardex, etcMake daily rounds of all patients and area. Recognize, interpret and report conditions to the DOW / RN / ED as neededMaintain cleanliness and neatness of nurse's station, med room and cartAssist in the orientation of new staffComplete admission and discharge evaluations as necessaryCheck equipment for cleanliness and conditionProvide guidance for nursing assistantsPromote and maintain good interpersonal relationships with residents, visitors and personnelPerform related work as required per assignment. Understands duties and responsibilities are carried out for both assisted living and independent residents throughout the facilityNote :
The above duties include many of the tasks for LPN. At times it may be necessary to perform other duties as requested by the Director of Wellness. Refusal to perform any task as directed by leadership will be cause for disciplinary action.
Qualifications :
Graduate of an accredited professional nursing program, currently licensed to practice per stateWork experience in the geriatric fieldAbility to communicate well and in writingAbility to deal with visitors, staff and residents in a courteous mannerAbility to lift, push, pull up to 60lbsStrong organizational skillsMust be able to work under pressure at timesMust be able to perform good grooming practices, personal hygiene and be punctual and regular in attendanceMust have warm, friendly, congenial personality. Must present a professional appearance and possess an empathetic attitude towards seniorsAbility to assess a resident's condition and intervene when neededCPR certified, or obtained within 90 days of hire and yearly thereafterMay have their picture taken and image used in social media or community advertisingMay be video recorded from devices installed by families in residents' apartments
