Job Description :
The Instructor will prepare participants to obtain the ACT Workkeys proficiency certificates required by DESE to work as a paraprofessional / paraeducator (Teacher Assistant) in the state of Massachusetts. The WorkKeys Proficiency Certificate for Paraprofessional consists of Reading for Information, Applied Mathematics, and Business Writing assessments.
This program will orient students to the job of Para Educator in the local public schools. Paraprofessional Educators work with teachers and other school staff to provide instructional assistance, classroom support, and implement effective classroom strategies to meet the needs of all students. The instructor will provide face-to-face instruction with limited online instruction. Instructors will follow the course syllabus (pacing guide) and unit plans using the Workkeys training system, Google Classroom and other Learning Management Systems as required. The instructor will prepare students to meet or exceed the rigorous standards by ACT. Instruction will be delivered to Adult Learners and require utilizing best practices for instruction.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
Paraprofessionals must achieve at the following skill levels on all three sections of the ACT Workkeys Certificate of Proficiency for Paraprofessional Teaching Assistants :

Salary : $50.00 per hour

Work Schedule : Current class schedule is 10 week sessions (Monday through Thursday, evenings typically between 5 : 30 and 9 : 00 PM) in line with the Workforce Development academic calendar, available funding, and need of the department. Individual schedule to be determined with the supervisor including evening meetings from 4 : 00 to 6 : 00 PM at least once a month on campus.
