Accounts Payable Specialist-Construction-Immediate Start!

Position Overview

Ledgent Finance & Accounting is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist to join a dynamic construction company in California. This role is critical in supporting the full accounts payable cycle, ensuring accurate invoice processing, timely payment execution, and proper documentation for all vendor and subcontractor transactions. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of construction accounting practices and excel in maintaining accuracy and efficiency while meeting tight deadlines across multiple projects. This role is initially contract with the potential to move to full-time.

Responsibilities :

• Receive, review, verify, and process vendor and subcontractor invoices for accuracy, coding, and required approvals.
• Ensure proper tax treatment, job cost allocations, and general ledger coding.
• Maintain organized digital and physical filing systems for all A / P documentation.
• Prepare weekly and monthly payment runs via check, ACH, and credit card.
• Track retention amounts and verify final release documentation prior to payment issuance.
• Reconcile vendor statements and promptly resolve any discrepancies.
• Process employee reimbursements and project-related expense reports accurately and on schedule.
• Maintain complete and accurate records for lien waivers and conditional / final releases.
• Enter and maintain vendor master records within the accounting system.
• Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, and procurement staff to ensure accurate cost capture.
• Manage the A / P inbox and coordinate incoming mail and digital payment requests.
• Provide general administrative support to the accounting team, including data entry, filing, and document scanning.
• Communicate professionally and courteously with vendors to address questions and resolve issues.

Required Work Hours

Monday through Friday, 1st shift.

Benefits

Competitive salary range from $33.00 to $38.00 per hour.

Additional Details

Must be local to the San Francisco Bay Area and able to visit job sites on a regular basis.
