Position Overview
MasTec is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our Financial Projects team. This role is ideal for a professional with demonstrated accounting experience and the ability to navigate complex accounting issues in a dynamic, public company environment with exposure to senior management. The individual will support a wide range of high‑visibility accounting areas, including acquisitions, investments and joint ventures, SEC Disclosures, and other ad-hoc projects, ensuring the individual is not performing the same tasks every day.
Responsibilities
- Acquisitions & purchase accounting: Assist in testing the opening balance sheet for acquired entities, support valuation professionals in establishing the fair values of the acquired assets and liabilities and collaborate with service line and acquiree management to obtain supporting documentation.
- Goodwill and long-lived asset impairment analysis: Assist in performing the Company’s interim and annual impairment analyses, including analyzing the financial performance, working with service line personnel to understand reporting unit results and outlook, and performing industry research.
- Investment and joint venture accounting – Assist in reviewing new investments and JVs agreements to determine the appropriate accounting treatment and necessary bookkeeping.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who brings:
- Experience working in a public company environment; Big 4 audit experience and/or CPA is a plus
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and technology skills
- A team‑oriented mindset and the ability to communicate and collaborate across departments and service lines
- Experience preparing journal entries and reconciliations, performing in-depth analyses, and researching and applying technical accounting topics
- Experience in the construction or other industries that use percentage of completion accounting is a plus
