We are looking for a competent Database Engineer to join our dynamic team in the United States. This position is only open to candidates living in the United States, with remote work available inside the continental US. As a Database Engineer, you'll be responsible for creating, optimizing, and supporting our scalable database systems, which support cutting-edge applications and data-driven choices.
Job Summary
The Database Engineer will be in charge of creating and administering robust database architectures that maintain data integrity, performance, and security. You'll work with cross-functional teams to implement effective data storage solutions, troubleshoot problems, and scale systems to meet expanding business requirements. This role provides an opportunity to work on creative projects in a collaborative setting, contributing to the foundation of our technological infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, implement, and optimize relational and non-relational databases (such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB) to support high-volume applications.
- Use database tuning, indexing, and query optimization to improve speed and reduce latency.
- Create and maintain ETL processes for data migration and integration.
- Maintain data security through encryption, access controls, and compliance with legislation such as GDPR and HIPAA.
- Maintain database health, backups, and disaster recovery plans.
- Work with engineers and data scientists to integrate databases into cloud platforms (such as AWS and Azure).
- Troubleshoot and resolve database issues in production situations.
- Save database structures, procedures, and best practices for future reference.
Skills
Proficiency in SQL and NoSQL databases; experience with database design tools (e.g., ERD); knowledge of cloud databases (RDS, DynamoDB); Python, Bash, or PowerShell scripting; and familiarity with database deployment CI / CD pipelines.Strong problem-solving abilities; great communication skills for technical explanations; ability to work independently and collaboratively; and attention to detail for data accuracy.Knowledge of big data tools (e.g., Hadoop, Kafka) and DevOps processes.Education & Experience
A bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related discipline (master's preferable).2-5 years of hands-on experience as a Database Engineer or a related function.Proven experience handling large-scale databases in a production setting.US work permit is required; there is no sponsorship available.Annual compensation ranges from $120,000 to $160,000, based on experience and location in the USA.
