Position Overview

The Materials Testing Engineer is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing materials testing and analysis activities related to construction, geotechnical, and infrastructure projects. This role supports both field and laboratory operations by applying engineering principles to ensure materials such as soil, concrete, asphalt, and aggregates meet project specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.

The Materials Testing Engineer works closely with field technicians, lab personnel, and project managers to provide technical oversight, interpret test results, troubleshoot quality issues, and deliver accurate, timely reports to clients and internal teams.

Responsibilities

• Plan and oversee materials testing programs for soils, concrete, asphalt, and aggregates in accordance with ASTM, AASHTO, DOT, and project-specific standards.
• Review and interpret laboratory and field test data to verify material compliance with specifications and design parameters.
• Provide technical support and guidance to field and lab personnel performing materials sampling and testing.
• Analyze material properties and performance characteristics to support engineering recommendations and construction quality assurance.
• Prepare and review technical reports, calculations, and summaries of testing data for internal teams and external clients.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to resolve non-conformities, troubleshoot issues, and develop corrective action plans.
• Assist in maintaining lab accreditations and ensuring adherence to quality control and safety standards.
• Stay up to date with industry standards, emerging technologies, and best practices in materials testing.
• Support proposal development, scope definition, and cost estimating for materials testing components of projects.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support engineering and quality assurance goals.

Qualifications

Travel Requirements

project needs. Destinations typically include job sites, field locations, or regional offices, where work may

be conducted in outdoor or operational environments. Adherence to all company safety protocols and

use of PPE is required during travel and on-site work.
