Surgery / Hybrid (ER / GP) Veterinary Technician

VCA McCormick Ranch Animal Hospital and Emergency Center in Scottsdale, Arizona is seeking a skilled and adaptable Veterinary Technician to join our team in a hybrid role.

This position offers a unique opportunity to work across both our Surgery and Emergency departments, providing variety in your schedule and experience.

The successful candidate will be a believer in the possibilities of high quality veterinary medicine and patient care-with the expertise and technical know-how to make them happen.

In this position you will be supporting our Doctors and Technician team by creating a positive, low-stress atmosphere for our clients and patients. Duties will include :

• Perform various procedures including fluid therapy, medication administration, enteral feedings, oxygen therapy, basic wound care and CPR.
• Triaging and assessment of patient status
• Conduct basic phlebotomy, IV catheterization, dose calculations, and hands free digital radiography.
• Familiarity with common drugs, including the safe handling and administration of controlled substances.
• Proficient in computer input, maintaining logs, and preparing hospital documents.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prepare the clinic for subsequent shifts.
• Excellent client communication abilities for diverse situations like discharges, updates, grief counseling, and coordinating with other departments.
