Cantor (NE)

Saint Marys Catholic Church located in Hagerstown Maryland seeks candidates for a Cantor. With the Music Director and music ministers the Cantor proclaims the Word through song and leads the congregation in song at Mass facilitating the spirited and joyful worship of the assembly. The Cantor rehearses with the choir weekly and prior to Sunday Mass. At rehearsals the Cantor will provide knowledgeable and creative support to the Music Director and is a part-time position working up to 5 hours per week.

Essential Functions :

• Lead the Congregation in Musical worship during Services
• Collaborate with music director to select appropriate hymns and songs
• Provide vocal training and guidance to choir members
• Organize and conduct rehearsals for the choir and soloists
• Participate in special religious ceremonies and events
• Maintain music library and ensure all materials are up-to-date.

Position Qualifications :

Range : $40 Hourly
