Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) Physician (Physiatrist)

Summary

The Dayton, Ohio Veterans Affairs Medical Center is recruiting a well-qualified Physiatrist under the direct administrative supervision of the PM&R Service Chief. The position includes clinical services to veterans across all PM&R clinics.

Compensation and Benefits

Competitive salary with annual performance bonus and regular salary increases.

Paid Time Off : 50‑55 days per year (26 days annual leave, 13 days sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays, and up to 5 days paid absence for CME).

Responsibilities

• Diagnoses, treats, and directs a rehabilitation plan for individuals with painful and function‑limiting musculoskeletal disorders of the spine, peripheral joints, and soft tissues such as sprains / strains, disc herniations, rheumatologic conditions, degenerative, developmental, acquired, and traumatic neuromuscular conditions of the upper and lower limbs, spinal cord, and brain.
• Experience with office‑based injections such as joint injections or ultrasound / EMG‑guided injections is preferred.
• Provides support to PM&R clinics including PMRS physician consults, amputee clinic, complex gait clinic, SCI, Pain, and TBI / Polytrauma programs.
• Collaborates with the Coordinators of the Polytrauma / TBI, amputee, and SCI programs, providing coverage for these clinics as needed.

Work Schedule

Monday through Friday, 0800 to 1630.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional requirements (if applicable) listed in the job announcement. Basic Requirements :

Preferred Experience : Board‑certified Physiatrist with experience in Pain Management and Traumatic Brain Injury.

Physical Requirements

The role involves occasional lifting, prolonged standing and sitting, frequent bending, walking (distance), climbing, reaching (overhead, extensive / repetitive), repetitive motion, and stooping. Mental / sensory requirements include recall, reasoning, problem‑solving, hearing, speaking clearly, writing legibly, reading, and logical thinking. The pace can range from steady to fast with frequent, sometimes intense customer interactions, requiring adaptation to rapid changes and occasional PPE use.
