Principal Responsibilities:
Job Overview:
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Aquatics and Assistant Director of Aquatics, the Assistant Swim Coach is responsible to help swim team operations. This includes maintaining a high level of communication with fellow aquatics staff, participants, parents, officials and administration, and assisting with afternoon/evening practices.
Minimum Qualifications:
Key Responsibilities, in coordination and consultation with the Director/Asst. Director, include:
- Assisting with conditioning and development of a competitive swim team.
- Attending swim meets throughout the season
- Directing and managing warm ups and team discipline, provides encouragement and motivation, and manages award distribution.
- Ensuring the safety of all swimmers and guests, understands/reviews all safety rules and emergency action procedures. Promotes and enforces safe behaviors.
- Developing and maintaining good relationships with swimmers, parents, and Riverdale Y staff.
- Completing other related duties as assigned by the Aquatics Director/Assistant Aquatics Director.
Qualities and Qualifications:
- Committed to excellent customer service
- Comfortable in a hands-on, collaborative work setting
- At least one year previous competitive coaching experience/participation
- Knowledge of rules, regulations and guidelines of USA Swimming and Competitive Sports
- Certified WSI or equivalent or able to obtain within two months of employment
- CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer or able to obtain within two months of employment
- Safety Training for Swim Coaches or able to obtain within two months of employment
- Associate's Degree preferred
