Job Description & Requirements

  • Must be willing to work some weekends and adhere to the designated 1st shift or 3rd Shift schedule

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care in a correctional facility or state-operated institution, including observation, assessment, and recording of symptoms and reactions of patients.
  • Take and record vital signs, administer prescribed medications, treatments, and immunizations, and monitor patients on a regular schedule (e.g., every 15 minutes for restrained patients).
  • Respond to medical emergencies by administering first aid, arranging transportation to a hospital, contacting physicians, and referring patients as needed.
  • Participate in staff development, education, and orientation for new employees.
  • Perform specialized procedures such as IV therapy, chemotherapy, wound care, oxygen therapy, dialysis, blood transfusions, CPR, tube feeding, catheterization, suctioning, and phlebotomy.
  • Manage administrative tasks such as completing incident reports, documenting medical information, ordering supplies, and maintaining inventory of controlled substances and equipment.
  • Ensure all required reports, such as Medicaid documentation and prescriptions, are completed in a timely manner.
  • Act as a lead worker on shifts, overseeing other healthcare staff when necessary.
  • Coordinate with medical staff to schedule out-patient appointments and medical exams.

  • Current licensure as a registered professional nurse in the state of Ohio, as issued by the Ohio Board of Nursing
