We are looking for a  Sr. Database Administrator  to join our team for a contract, hybrid in  Atlanta, GA.

We are seeking an experienced Database Analyst or Database Systems Programmer with a minimum of 8 years of experience working with zDb2. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in mainframe database technologies, including z / Db2, IMS DB / DC, and / or ADABAS. This role involves overseeing database systems, optimizing performance, managing upgrades, and supporting application teams to implement new technologies that align with business goals.

Initial 12-month contract on W2, eligible for extension and full benefits.

Responsibilities :

Database Administration & Maintenance :

• Manage and maintain IBM DB2 databases on the z / OS mainframe platform.
• Create and manage database objects, such as tables, indexes, and table spaces.
• Perform data manipulation operations like loading, unloading, and reorganizing data using DB2 utilities.

Implement database backup and recovery strategies to ensure data availability and disaster recovery.

Performance Monitoring & Optimization :

Utilize tools like RUNSTATS to maintain accurate database statistics for query optimization.

Collaboration & Consultation :

Collaborate with application developers to design and implement database schema changes.

Software & System Management :

Proactively monitor database platforms for high availability, identifying root causes and correcting issues.

Risk Management & Compliance :

Participate in audit reviews, including completing quarterly SOX audits and ensuring compliance with regulations.

Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity :

Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing, ensuring database resilience in case of system failures.

Technology Strategy & Lifecycle Management :

Stay up-to-date on advancements in database technologies and lifecycle management, particularly focusing on deprecated features and mitigation planning.

Qualifications :

Strong experience in managing database backups, recovery procedures, and disaster recovery planning.

Preferred Qualifications :

Experience working with external vendors and managing software upgrades.

Education & Certification Requirements :

Relevant certifications in DB2 or related database technologies are a plus.

Work Environment :

Collaboration with various internal and external teams to ensure high performance and availability of database systems.
