Job Description

TITLE : Speech Language Pathologist

The candidate understands the philosophical, historical, and legal foundations of special education. The Speech Language Pathologist understands how students differ in their approaches to learning; creates communication opportunities that are adapted to diverse learners; understands planning and designs services based on knowledge of the discipline, student, community, and curriculum goals of all students ages three through twenty-one.

Position Highlights :

As a Speech-Language Pathologist, you will design and implement both short- and long-term therapy plans that align with curriculum goals and address diverse student needs. You will apply expertise in identifying and supporting individuals with disabilities, including those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, while considering the impact of language, cognitive, behavioral, and physical challenges on learning and development. In this role, you will adapt instructional strategies to meet IEP objectives, incorporate evidence-based practices, and integrate assistive technology to support communication growth. Responsibilities also include conducting assessments, maintaining accurate records, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and actively participating in IEP and parent meetings to ensure student progress and success.

Requirements

Candidates must possess a valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) along with an active Illinois Speech-Language Pathology license. A Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Sciences and Disorders is required. While the ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) is preferred, it is not a strict requirement.
