Join our dynamic team and be part of an organization that continually pushes the boundaries of delivering code and business value for Nationwide and our members. We are seeking a Specialist, Software Engineer for the Innovation Nation line to support Smart Products. The ideal candidate will have :

• Experience in Java / Spring Boot / Microservices
• Understanding of SQL databases, with the ability to write queries.
• Knowledge in API integrations using Apigee and Event streaming using Kafka
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, such as AWS
• Proficiency in version control (Git)
• Experience in monitoring and observability tools such as New Relic and Splunk
• DevOps experience and DevOps tool is a plus (Kubernetes, Github actions, Harness or similar tools)
• A solid understanding of web-based security (secure coding practices and coding standards)
• Experience with unit testing, code coverage, and best practices
• Understanding of Agile methodologies.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and learn new technologies
• Working experience with Guidewire products, specifically Guidewire Policy Center Version 10+ preferred.

As a Software Engineer, you will focus primarily on providing high quality, efficient technology solutions to business partners by crafting new software applications or modifying and / or supporting existing packaged or custom-built applications. In this capacity, you'll analyze, code, configure, test, debug, document and maintain applications.

Key Responsibilities :

Reporting Relationships : Reports to a Technology Manager / Director.

Typical Skills and Experiences :

Education : Completion of undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, or other related degree. Technology experience or non-traditional technology certificates can be substituted for an undergraduate degree.

Experience : Four or more years of analysis and technology experience.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills : Proficiency in one or more programming language such as Java, C++, Python, JavaScript. Strong knowledge of software development lifecycle. Proven ability to tackle complex business and development problems. Ability to thrive in a team environment. Insurance / financial services industry knowledge a plus.

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.

Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager's leader and Human Resources Business Partner.
