Summary

Join Guidewire as a Staff Software Engineer Application Platform and be part of the team building our next-generation platform. This platform provides the essential tools services and infrastructure that power modern insurance applications. You will be a technical leader on this platform using AI coding tools to design and build core services that power developer experience ensuring quality scalability and security. This is a senior onsite full-time role based in the United States.

You will play a pivotal role in delivering operational excellence and transformative innovation for Guidewires Product Development & Operations (PDO) organization. Our priorities include accelerating cloud and data platform adoption and ensuring our solutions deliver measurable value and efficiency for customers. At Guidewire youll contribute to a culture of collaboration continuous improvement and customer-centricity helping transform the way the worlds P&C insurers do business.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Lead the design development and maintenance of Guidewires application platform primarily focusing on backend services but with flexibility to occasionally work with infrastructure and frontend.

Apply agentic coding tools as Guidewire uses them to dramatically accelerate development.

Engineer for quality scalability availability and security in every aspect of the platform.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver secure scalable and efficient platform operations supporting Guidewires mission of operational excellence and transformative innovation.

Mentor and guide engineering teams fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.

Required Qualifications

10 years of experience in backend software engineering with a strong track record in system design and building core platform services.

Experience with coding agents and automation tools.

Deep expertise in one of Java JavaScript TypeScript Python but able to quickly adjust to other languages.

Experience building APIs microservices and distributed systems at scale.

Excellent collaboration communication and leadership skills.

Experience with Kubernetes and infrastructure as code.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $169000 - $253000 . Your base pay will depend on your experience skills education training and location among other factors. All full-time positions or part-time roles working 30 hours or more a week at Guidewire are eligible for benefits that support their health and well-being including health dental and vision insurance paid time off and a company sponsored retirement addition some roles may be eligible for the annual company bonus plan commissions and / or long term incentive awards which are contingent on a variety of factors including but not limited to company and employee performance.
