Carpenter Co. has an opening for a Research Engineer at our Reinhart Technical Center in Richmond, Virginia . This position is responsible for supporting internal groups and external customer requests by coordinating and overseeing day-to-day operations in the Reinhart Technical Center Physical Testing and both the Large and Small-Scale Flammability Testing Laboratories.

Your additional responsibilities as a Research Engineer will include :

• Support Carpenter Co research groups by becoming a technical resource on testing methodology for a wide range of Carpenter Co products
• Monitor day to day operations in several key support laboratories and assist in hands on testing work when required (includes a large-scale flammability laboratory where mattress burning behavior is observed)
• Manage and organize maintenance and calibration schedules for testing equipment
• Continuously improve Material and Flammability laboratory performance by updating work instructions and training materials and also through research of new test practices
