Were looking for a Camera Systems Engineer to join the Spectacles team at Snap Inc!

What youll do :

Lead a cross-functional sensing project including hardware and software development new use-case prototyping user studies and performance verification.

Develop next-generation camera hardware based on user research and product integration requirements including sensor selection and developing lens requirements.

Define and document camera subcomponent and module engineering requirements

Define testing and qualification plans for the components and camera module at different stages of development from concept to production

Develop product-level test procedures in support of product use cases

Collaborate with camera firmware and software engineers to develop testing and calibration solutions

Drive DFM with suppliers and manage technical and commercial risk through design

Support failure analysis and reliability testing and integrate corrective actions into future designs and process improvements

Review process plans and propose and drive DOEs when necessary

Evaluate and debug camera hardware at module and product levels with supporting simulation

Travel to supplier facilities for product development and production bring-up (up to 15% international travel expected)

Knowledge Skills & Abilities :

Knowledge of standard miniature camera module assembly processes including wafer-level optics

Knowledge of the image signal processing pipeline

Familiarity with common applications of computer vision and computational imaging

Experience with eye tracking systems

Expertise in at least one of the following : mechanical design of injection-molded components electrical design of high-speed circuits design and fabrication of plastic optics or consumer electronics process development

Ability to work independently and manage internal and external resources

Minimum Qualifications :

Bachelors degree in optical engineering physics electrical engineering mechanical engineering or related field

3 years of experience in designing testing or development of high-volume camera modules

Preferred Qualifications :

PhD or MS degree in optical engineering physics electrical engineering mechanical engineering or related field

Expertise in near-infrared illumination systems and sensors

Experience leading complex cross-functional technical projects without predefined requirements

Experience with compact camera image sensors lenses manufacturing testing and working with component and module suppliers

Compensation

In the United States work locations are assigned a pay zone which determines the salary range for the position. The successful candidates starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills experience qualifications work location and market conditions. The starting pay may be negotiable within the salary range for the position. These pay zones may be modified in the future.

Zone A (CA WA NYC) :

The base salary range for this position is $157000-$235000 annually.

Zone B :

The base salary range for this position is $149000-$223000 annually.

Zone C :

The base salary range for this position is $133000-$200000 annually.

This position is eligible for equity in the form of RSUs.
