Substitute Elementary School Social Worker

Waterford School District – Waterford, MI

Start Date : February 16, 2026

Duration : Approximately 8–10 weeks (with possibility of extension)

Location : In-person only

About the Role

Waterford School District is seeking a dedicated and experienced Substitute Elementary School Social Worker to provide social work support for students in an elementary school setting. This temporary assignment will begin February 16, 2026 and is expected to last approximately eight to ten weeks. The Social Worker will support students' social, emotional, and behavioral needs within the school community and work collaboratively with educators, families, and staff to promote student well-being and academic success.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide social work services to elementary students, including individual and small group interventions.
• Support students' social, emotional, and behavioral needs in accordance with best practices for school social work.
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, support staff, and families to develop and implement effective strategies.
• Assist in the development of plans and interventions that support student success.
• Document services provided and maintain appropriate records.
• Participate in school-based teams to support student progress and welfare
