Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring NJ or compact RN licensure and advanced cardiac life support skills.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) within a hospital
  • Day shifts with 12-hour shifts scheduled 7 : 00 to 19 : 30
  • 28-bed Intermediate Care setting with a mix of high acuity / IMC patients
  • Care for post-CABG, post-op mini valve, TAVRs, chest tubes, pre / post cardiac cath, surgery, and hemodialysis patients
  • No ventilator management required
  • Ratios 1 : 4+ for IMC patients; may increase to 1 : 5-6+ if floating to Med / Surg or Telemetry
  • Floating required within the nurse’s skillset when not needed on home unit
  • Uses EPIC for charting
  • Every other weekend and holiday work required
  • No block scheduling available
  • First time travelers are accepted
  • Returning employees must have a minimum one-year break in service before eligibility for travel positions
  • Local candidates are accepted
  • Holiday rotation is expected

    • Requirements

  • Active NJ or Compact RN license required
  • Current certifications in BLS and ACLS required
  • NIHSS certification preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of acute care RN experience required
  • Experience with EKG interpretation and management, dressing changes, wound vacs, A-lines, heparin, cardiac drips (no titration), PCAs, chest tubes, CPAP, and trach care
  • EPIC charting experience required
  • Must be free of open or active background or license issues
