Nursing Care Assistant II / Health Unit Coordinator Duke Raleigh Hospital Surgery Center

Schedule : FOUR, 10-hr shifts per pay period. Monday - Friday

6am to 4pm or 6 : 30am to 4 : 30pm

Duke University Health System- Duke Raleigh Hospital seeks to hire a Nursing Care Assistant II who will embrace our mission of Advancing Health Together.

Unit Overview

The Duke Raleigh Surgery Center is a hospital based ambulatory surgery center located on the Duke Raleigh Hospital campus at 3300 Executive Drive. This specialty surgical platform has 4 procedure rooms including outpatient ophthalmology and other general surgery service lines, performing over 3400 patients annually.

Job Overview

Perform a variety of nonprofessional nursing duties in the direct care of patients under the direct supervision of a RN / LPN. Perform tasks within the scope of a Nursing Care Assistant I and II as defined by the NC Board of Nursing.

Duties and Responsibilities

• In addition to duties outlined in NAI job description, the following duties may be performed : sterile dressing change for wounds over 48 hours old and wound irrigation; IV fluid assistance activities; oral / nasogastric feeding; urinary catheterization and irrigation; oxygen therapy, including room set-up and monitoring flowrate; break up and removal of fecal impaction; oropharyngeal and nasopharyngeal suctioning; tracheotomy care; ostomy care, irrigation and annual skills validation.
• Participate in own professional development by maintaining required skills validation and attending educational offerings. Support the development of other staff and formal learners.
• Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
