PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THIS JOB :
Volumetric Building Companies (VBC) is a vertically integrated global volumetric construction leader. Utilizing our technology-enabled design and engineering model, precision-driven manufacturing capabilities, and project-proven modular construction expertise, the company’s focus is on providing high quality, sustainably produced buildings in less time across varied market sectors including housing and hospitality. The Drywall Tape and Finisher at VBC is responsible for finishing the drywall process in our modular units, inspecting for and correcting imperfections.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS : (other duties may be assigned)
- Understand the 5 levels of finishing and demonstrate each.
- Utilize tools such as : Bazookas, Banjos, Flat and angle boxes, corner rollers, and power sanders to finish production.
- Measure and cut drywall panels to fit in and around specific spaces such as doors, windows, electrical outlets, and lighting fixtures. Install drywall panels to wood or metal studs.
- Inspect drywall surfaces for imperfections (screw heads, misaligned joints, bad hanging etc) then mark drywall surface with pencil prior to starting.
- Use drywall compound to fill in and cover joints, screws, nails, and other imperfections.
- Sand joint compound once dry and apply drywall tape.
- Eliminate visible joints, eliminate air bubbles, ensure tape is not blistered, switch and receptacle boxes are finished tight.
- Install cornerbead, trim beads, reveal beads straight, plumb and on tight utilizing string lines, laser, square, or straight edge. Check bead alignment with laser or straight edges.
- Daily maintenance and cleanup of production tools.
- Ability to work independently.
- Inspect a quality produced wall or ceiling.
- Patch / repair existing drywall into like-new appearance. Create textured surfaces when requested.
- Comply with company and industry safety standards.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
REQUIREMENTS : (Equivalent combinations of education, licenses, certifications and / or experience may be considered)
Education
High school diploma or GED.Experience
Minimum 2 years’ experience with production finishing preferred.Understand construction measurements and basic math.Ability to read blueprints, easily understand materials and measurements from the prints, and identify potential issues with materials.Ability to estimate quantity of materials required for a project.Ability to measure and cut drywall to fit in specific spaces.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES : typically required to perform the essential functions of this position.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as problem-solving skills.Dependable and punctual.Ability to work independently and with a work crew.Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills required.High regard for the quality of a finished product.Tools & Equipment (Other than general office equipment) :
Understands production work and can operate all production finishing tools.Has the experience to be safe with stilts, baker scaffolding, and ladders.PHYSICAL DEMANDS : typically required to perform the essential functions of this position.
Ability to lift, push, pull up to 75 lbs regularly.Ability to climb stairs and ramps, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, squat, lift, grasp, speak, hear, and see objects.Ability to respond quickly to sounds; ability to see and respond to dangerous situations.Ability to work safely in confined spaces.Ability to be on your feet for extended periods of time.Excellent hand-eye coordination.WORKING CONDITIONS under which the essential functions of this position are typically performed.
Onsite work at Berwick facility.Occasional overtime may be requested.Frequent exposure to manufacturing plant environment.Occasional exposure to general office setting.PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT : typically required to perform the essential functions of this position.
