Salary : $124,800 annually
The Medical Director of the Restoration Center (RC) leads a comprehensive medical team in the provision of community-based services within a continuum of care for individuals impacted by mental health, substance use and co-occurring disorders. The Medical Director is responsible for the clinical and medical oversight and quality of care across all Restoration Center programs and is an integral part of the development and management of a model designed to support individuals in the community, reduce use of emergency rooms and incarceration for behavioral health, increase access to care through the RC’s pre-detox environment and support individuals disproportionately impacted by negative health outcomes on a pathway to recovery. The summarized functions of this role include :
- Provides psychiatric and medical consultation to Vinfen’s Restoration Center and subject matter related activities including risk management, quality of care metrics and best clinical practice
- Participates actively in communications with the Department of Mental Health (DMH), the Executive Office of Health and Human Services (EOHHS), law enforcement, other care-giving institutions and professionals, individuals served, and the general community
- Provides direct clinical care, as assigned.
Responsibilities :
In partnership with Vinfen’s Vice President of Nursing, directs and supervises the work of the RC medical team including advanced practice nurses and registered nurses.Provides clinical expertise and consultation as needed by the Restoration Center staff.Provides training regarding relevant clinical matters for staff.Assists team managers in identifying psychiatric resources for individuals served.Assists team managers in developing workflows consistent with best practice and maintenance of optimal engagement in individuals served and key stakeholders.Participates in organizational training and / or meetings as required for compliance purposes.Provides consultation and acts as a liaison with other physicians to support serious medical / psychiatric concerns of individuals served.Assists the team in promoting initiatives to foster a harm reduction, trauma informed framework for engaging with individuals served.Reviews critical incidents and recommends improvements in policies, practices and / or corrective actions and follow-up, as needed.Maintains communication with collaborating care-giving institutions and professionals, Vinfen administration, direct service staff, and regional DMH leadership, and other key stakeholders.Assists in the implementation of agency wide quality initiative efforts.Provides direct care, as necessary.Facilitates cross agency medical team meetings-monitor adherence to program specifications and quality.Develops, implements, improves, and monitors policies, practices, systems and infrastructure, including quality improvement and risk management to safely and effectively manage the care provided to Vinfen clients.Participates in Risk review Meetings and Adverse Event Reviews, as needed.Leads the team through example to create an environment of inclusiveness, learning, cultural and linguistic humility and best practices.Maintains active participation in professional organizations.Participates in external stakeholder meetings such as those with state agencies, EOHHS and key community partners.Performs other related duties, as assigned.Qualifications :
Typical Requirements :
Experience with providing services to individuals with mental health, substance use, co-occurring disorders and / or criminal justice involvement strongly preferred.Three to five years’ experience in a leadership / administrative role in a related clinical setting.Preferred / Required Education :
MD is required.
Required Certifications / Trainings :
CPR within 2 weeks of hire
Required Credentials / Licenses :
Medical license and board certification in Psychiatry in state of service required.
Dual certification in Adult Psychiatry and other related areas such as Substance Abuse in state of service highly desirable.
DEA certification to prescribe medication required.
Malpractice insurance required.
