Truck Driver
Essential Responsibilities:
- Safely drive a truck up 26'.
- Pick up pallet orders from the Greater Boston Food Bank 3-4 times weekly.
- Unload all food from the Greater Boston Food Bank and organize pallets accordingly.
- Place cold pallets in walk-in or freezer.
- Operate an electric pallet jack.
- Load packed grocery bags into the truck on pallets with pallet jack.
- Operate a lift gate.
- Operate a loading dock.
- Pick up other donations as needed.
- Safely drive and navigate to each partner site, while understanding the parking challenges for a large truck at some sites.
- Unload each site's delivery and place it in a safe area designated by the partner site.
- Have clear communication with site coordinators regarding deliveries, not just upon arrival, but in the case of any delays on their daily routes.
- Professionally greeting any community members who may have arrived prior to the delivery.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitize the truck daily.
- Report any truck maintenance issues to Supervisor.
- Maintain a clean driving record.
- Complete any driving safety courses required by YMCA.
- Submit all gas receipts from YMCA gas card to Supervisor via CenterCard app.
When Not Driving/Delivering:
- Pack grocery bags.
- Restock food.
- Daily warehouse cleanup of sanitizing and sweeping all food and packing areas.
- Empty recycling bins.
- Empty trash bins and replace trash bags.
- Report any observed issues with sites.
- Attend staff meetings.
- Other tasks assigned by Supervisor.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust.
