We are hiring Weekend Part-time Poke/Sushi Chef for a Poke Restaurant in the South San Jose area (Capital Expwy/Aborn). We are looking Poke/Sushi Chef to help build and grow our business. Looking for enthusiastic people with the ability to handle multiple responsibilities and deliver great customer services.
As a Poke Chef/Sushi Chef your job includes:
- Cut fish for poke (tuna, salmon, albacore, hamachi, tako) (50% of the workload)
- Make sushi rolls, sashimi preparation (this will all be done in the back kitchen as we do not have a "sushi bar" (40% of the workload)
- Prepare kitchen orders (10% of the workload)
- Prep ingredients for poke and sushi
- Having knife skills to chop, cut, slice vegetable and proteins
- Working under pressure as a team
- Maintaining clean kitchen and workstation; comply with food sanitation standards at all times
- Communicating ticket times to Servers
- Ensure knowledge of menu and food products
- Monitor product freshness, Visually inspect all food sent from the kitchen
- Ability to use Range, Oven, Fryer, and Grill
- Practice correct food handling and food storage procedures according to federal, state, local and company regulations
Qualifications:
- Minimum 6 month to 1 year of professional cooking experience required. Please (DO NOT) apply if you don't have any experience.
- Ability to bend, stoop, walk and lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs with or without reasonable accommodation
- Food Safety permit or ability to obtain one upon employment
- Minimum 1 year of Poke chef/ Sushi chef experience strongly preferred
- Availability to work Monday-Sunday: shift on weekdays, weekends, and holidays between the hours of 10am -9:30pm (Weekend availability is preferred)

Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
