Position Summary
The Housekeeping Director plans, organizes, and directs the overall operations of the Housekeeping department to ensure a clean, safe working environment in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Life Care standards.
Education, Experience, and Licensure Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Minimum of two (2) years’ supervisory experience in a health care setting
- Training in environmental control practices and procedures

Plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the Housekeeping departmentMaintain the care of use of supplies and equipment, maintain facility appearance, and must perform regular inspections of patient rooms for sanitation, order, safety, and proper performance of assigned dutiesEnsure equipment is returned to appropriate locations in proper working condition and ready for the next useInventory stock and ensure adequate supplies / equipment for staffIdentify additional cleaning needs and adjust schedule to meet those needsMake daily rounds to assure that housekeeping staff are performing required dutiesRoutinely inspect facility for cleanliness and safety (i.e., storage rooms, closets, patient rooms)Recruit, select, hire, evaluate, train, counsel, and supervise housekeeping staffPerform duties as a Housekeeping Assistant as neededEffectively manage and operate within budgetCater events as requestedEffectively manage and operate within budgetExhibit excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards patientsAssist in the evacuation of patientsDemonstrate dependable, regular attendanceConcentrate and use reasoning skills and good judgmentCommunicate and function productively on an interdisciplinary teamSit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk, reach, and move intermittently during working hoursRead, write, speak, and understand the English language
