Position Overview
This role is for an experienced Intensive Care Registered Nurse at the Clinical Nurse II level, essential to delivering compassionate, patient-focused care in a high-acuity ICU setting. The position demands advanced clinical skills, specialized certifications, and the ability to work independently while collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate with the interprofessional healthcare team to provide safe, efficient, and equitable care tailored to each patient.
Perform thorough assessments to identify individual patient needs and develop personalized care plans.Monitor patient responses to interventions and adjust care plans promptly.Advocate for patients, ensuring dignity and confidentiality at all times.Evaluate the effectiveness of care provided by the team and contribute to continuous improvement.Educate patients and families on medical conditions, treatments, and lifestyle changes.Promote evidence-based practices within the ICU environment.Safety and Compliance :Maintain a clean, safe work environment adhering to infection control and hospital policies.
Strictly follow aseptic techniques and regulatory standards including OSHA and The Joint Commission guidelines.Identify and report safety concerns, actively participating in systemic improvements.Documentation :Accurately document all care activities, patient progress, and incidents in the electronic medical record system.
Professional Development and Leadership :Mentor and precept new nurses and students, supporting their growth and development.
Engage in ongoing education, certifications, and quality improvement initiatives.Serve as a resource and advocate for best practices within the ICU.Assume charge nurse and Rapid Response Team roles as needed.Emergency Preparedness :Respond decisively and effectively in critical situations such as cardiac arrest, demonstrating advanced clinical skills and calm under pressure.
Qualifications
Experience :
Minimum two years as a Registered Nurse in a high-acuity Intensive Care Unit or equivalent step-down critical care unit.Proven ability to manage complex patient cases.Education :
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) with five years ICU experience considered.Licenses and Certifications :
Current Registered Nurse license valid in the United States.Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications from recognized organizations.NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.Certified Critical Care Nurse (CCRN) or equivalent certification preferred.This position is located in a regional healthcare facility serving the Pacific Northwest region of the United States. Candidates must successfully pass physical evaluations, drug screenings, and background checks prior to employment.
