Pathology Physician

Contract Length : ongoing

Shift Details : Full time plus call coverage

Schedule : Monday Friday 8am 5pm plus full-time call coverage

Average amount of Call Back : consists mostly of Blood Bank issues (1-2 / week)

Work Details :

Support staff : Histology : 2 full time histotechs, who gross biopsies and gallbladders, attend FNAs performed by Radiology and Bone Marrows performed by Oncology; few special stains done inhouse, Immunohistochemistry performed by LabCorp with images available online.

Main lab : Full time Lab system director with experienced senior tech for each department

Amount of coverage needed per month : Full-time

Patients per day :

Patient population / age : Mostly adult; rare pediatric peripheral smear reviews, otherwise, for peds specimens are tonsils and appendix.

Department description : Level IV trauma

EMR : Cerner / Paragon

Hospital bed size : 70 beds

Special procedures :

Skills required : comfortable with occasional frozen section, cytology : urines, Bronch washes and brushes, pleural and ascitic fluids. Thyroid FNAs go to LabCorp

Credentialing Timeframe : 60 days
