Lead Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner / Clinical Supervisor (PMHNP-BC)
Behavioral Health & Substance Use Disorder (Outpatient)

Schedule : Monday–Friday, 9 : 00 AM – 5 : 00 PM
Compensation : $150,000 annually + full benefits
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) to serve as the Lead Clinical Provider and Clinical Supervisor for an outpatient behavioral health and substance use disorder clinic.
This role blends direct patient care with clinical oversight and supervision , offering a structured, full-time schedule with clearly defined responsibilities and work hours. The Lead PMHNP will function as an independent provider while supervising a small clinical team and supporting high-quality, compliant outpatient care.

Schedule & Work Model
Full-time, 40 hours per weekMonday–Friday, 9 : 00 AM – 5 : 00 PMHybrid model : approximately 2 onsite days per weekNo evening, overnight, or on-call requirementsKey Responsibilities
Clinical Care
Conduct psychiatric evaluations and diagnostic assessmentsProvide medication management and follow-up careDevelop and implement individualized treatment plansDeliver evidence-based, patient-centered psychiatric servicesCollaborate with therapists and support staff to ensure coordinated careClinical Supervision & Oversight
Serve as the supervising PMHNP for a small outpatient clinical team (initially 1–2 clinicians or behavioral health staff)Review and sign off on treatment plans, assessments, and progress notes as requiredProvide clinical guidance, case consultation, and professional supportPromote ethical, trauma-informed, and compliant care deliveryClinical Quality & Compliance
Ensure documentation meets clinical, payer, and regulatory standardsParticipate in quality assurance and clinical review activitiesSupport regulatory and payer requirements related to clinical servicesCredentialing & Program Support
Serve as the credentialed provider for payer enrollment (e.g., Medicaid, commercial insurers)Administrative credentialing processes are managed by the organization; the PMHNP’s role is limited to credential usage, not paperwork executionRequired Qualifications
Active PMHNP-BC certificationEligible for and able to practice independently in Rhode IslandIndividual NPI requiredMinimum 3+ years of psychiatric or behavioral health experienceExperience working independently in an outpatient settingPrior supervisory or clinical leadership experience (formal or informal)Experience prescribing and managing psychotropic medicationsFamiliarity with DSM-5, psychopharmacology, and evidence-based treatment approachesActive malpractice insurance (or willingness to obtain upon hire)Ideal Candidate Profile
