American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) night shift position requiring BLS, ACLS, and proficiency in cardiac monitoring.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a Surgical Progressive Care Unit with nearly ICU-level acuityPatient population includes ENT, thoracic, general surgery, urology, and medical overflow casesStaffing ratio is 1 : 3-4 patients per nurseUses cardiac monitoring equipment and Cerner EMR systemNight shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts from 19 : 00 to 7 : 30Every other weekend required and may need to work consecutive weekends based on operational needsFloating to Med-Surg, PCU, or ICU may be required at the primary or affiliate hospitalCharge nurse responsibilities may be assigned based on staffing needs with training providedMust be willing to precept or be shadowed by students as part of the teaching environmentFirst-time travelers are accepted for this roleRefusal to float may result in termination of contractPerm or PRN employees must have a 12-month gap before applying as a travelerHoliday requirement includes working 2 out of 3 major holidaysUp to 5 days of time off can be auto-approvedAll travelers must be open to floating within hospital or to affiliate facilities\n \n Requirements\n
Active IN or compact RN license in hand at time of considerationMinimum of 18 months to 2 years RN experience requiredCurrent BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA or RQI accepted)Proficiency in cardiac monitoring and management of chest tubes, fresh trachs, feeding tubes, epidurals, and non-titratable cardiac dripsExperience with IV insulin protocols, titration of insulin drips, BiPAP / CPAP, total laryngectomy, and Doppler flap checksEMR experience with Cerner requiredGraduation from an accredited nursing program (ACEN or CCNE)Not accepting local candidates for this PCU position\n Benefits\n
