Job Description :

Pay Range : $35hr - $40hr

  • The Cards Mainframe Developer is responsible for developing, enhancing, and maintaining mainframe applications to support business-critical card processing systems.
  • This role involves working across development, testing, and production environments to ensure reliable batch execution, application stability, and system performance.
  • The ideal candidate has strong experience in COBOL-based development and batch processing within enterprise mainframe environments.

Responsibilities :

  • Develop, enhance, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, VSAM, and DB2.
  • Write efficient and scalable COBOL programs to support business processes.
  • Optimize JCL and mainframe jobs to ensure smooth and reliable batch execution.
  • Develop and maintain DB2 queries, stored procedures, and program logic.
  • Support and monitor daily batch streams and scheduled mainframe jobs.
  • Analyze and resolve job abends, ensuring timely recovery and batch cycle completion.
  • Improve performance of batch jobs and streamline workflows.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mainframe application issues across development, testing, and production environments.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement long-term fixes for recurring issues.
  • Provide on-call or weekend support as required for critical batch processes.
  • Work with CICS, IMS, and DB2 regions to ensure stable integration of applications.
  • Maintain and enhance datasets, including VSAM files, sequential files, and DB2 tables.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support system changes, migrations, and upgrades.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including program specifications, flowcharts, and support guides.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and collaborate with business analysts, QA, and infrastructure teams.
  • Follow coding standards, participate in peer reviews, and ensure quality deliverables.

    • Skills :

  • Strong experience in COBOL development.
  • Proficiency in JCL and batch job management.
  • Experience with DB2, including queries and stored procedures.
  • Knowledge of VSAM datasets and sequential file processing.
  • Experience working with CICS and IMS.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in Agile environments and cross-functional teams.

    • Qualification And Education :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Relevant professional experience in mainframe application development.
