Salary : Job Summary :

The Skilled Trades Technician supports daily operations by performing a wide range of hands-on tasks in production, yard operations, mechanical repair, welding, and paint / body work. This role ensures equipment, materials, and work areas are maintained to company standards and that projects are completed safely, efficiently, and with high-quality workmanship.

The technician will be responsible for assembling heavy machinery, performing pre-delivery inspections, and ensuring that all equipment meets high standards of quality and safety before reaching customers. This position requires mechanical knowledge and experience, experience operating heavy equipment, and strong attention to detail to conduct thorough inspections. The role involves working outdoors in various weather conditions and maintaining a strong commitment to safety and quality.

Duties / Responsibilities :

• Assemble heavy machinery using hand, electric, and air-powered tools.
• Unpack, install, and remove machine parts as needed.
• Operate equipment to test and ensure proper assembly.
• Read and interpret machine manuals and schematics for assembly and inspection purposes.
• Conduct comprehensive pre-delivery inspections of machinery, checking mechanical components, electrical systems, and overall functionality.
• Perform external and internal visual checks for damage and function tests for each vehicle.
• Use a designated inspection app to document findings, defects, and concerns with photos and notes.
• Identify and report any issues or discrepancies found during assembly or inspection.
• Work closely with the maintenance team to address any mechanical issues.
• Follow OSHA standards and company safety regulations, ensuring compliance with all workplace safety requirements.
• Maintain accountability for company-owned tools and equipment.
• Occasionally interact with customers regarding inspection findings or machinery conditions.
• Participate in safety meetings and required training sessions.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
• Perform routine maintenance and basic mechanical repairs on equipment, tools, and vehicles.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues and recommend corrective actions.
• Perform MIG / TIG / arc welding and cutting tasks as needed for repairs or fabrication projects.
• Fabricate, modify, or repair metal components according to specifications.
• Ensure welds meet safety and quality standards
• Prepare surfaces by sanding, grinding, priming, and masking.
• Perform painting, refinishing, and minor body repair on equipment, vehicles, or fabricated parts.
• Maintain paint equipment and ensure proper application techniques.
