Warehouse Operator
The Warehouse Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently handling liquid and dry chemical products, ensuring accuracy, quality, and compliance throughout all warehouse and transfer operations. This hands-on role involves loading and unloading trucks, tankers, and railcars; operating forklifts and other industrial equipment; repackaging and labeling materials; and maintaining precise inventory records. No two days are the same; you will work with a variety of products, equipment, and processes in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail truly matters. Job Description
General :
- Receive / unload and prepare / load liquid and dry chemical products from / to trucks, tankers, and railcars. This work is physical and requires attention to detail as follows :
- Maneuver and connect / disconnect transfer hoses
- Climb up tanks, tankers and railcars to open / close top hatches and monitor load
- Inspect tanks, tankers and railcars before and after loading / unloading operations
- Verify product against receiving / shipping documents, noting and reporting discrepancies and damages
- Product sampling and quality control in conjunction with lab personnel
- Maintain accurate receiving / shipping logs. Record amounts of product received or distributed via appropriate computer program
- Picking and staging product for delivery in accordance with specifications on customer orders or other instructions
Operation of powered and manual industrial lift trucks (with certification) to transport product in the warehouse, and maintain daily forklift checklist :
Move raw materials to the production area and move finished products to the warehouseAbility to lift and carry bags, pails, boxes, and pallets varying distancesAbility to stage and remove product packaging in complex storage racking within operating areas and warehousesRepackage product into proper containers for storage or shipment. This work is physical and requires attention to detail :
Fill cylinders, drums, totes, pails or tankers with product and route to prescribed storage locations making sure of proper labelling, storing, stacking, or palletizing according to company and regulatory requirementsGive special attention to packaging, loading and storing of food grade and USP itemsOperate electronic scale and process devicesCarefully store hazardous waste drums in the prescribed area in full compliance with hazardous waste regulationsResponsibility for inventory :
Examine stored product and report deterioration and damageRearrange stored materialsAssist in counting of physical inventoryGeneral Maintenance :
Ensure warehouse is clean, accessible and safe for all visitors and workersWhen spills occur, responsible for immediate reporting and cleanupProtect property from theft or damageOther duties as assigned, including mixing and blending as required
Your Profile
Education and Experience :
High school diploma, general education degree (GED), or US military experience.Candidates with prior experience in working with chemical operations (2+ years) may be considered if education or service requirements are not fully met.Possess or able to pass exam to obtain Forklift Operators certification and demonstrate ability to operate a forklift safely.Ability to read, comprehend and carry out detailed and simple instructions in English and write simple correspondence.Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measureAbility to learn and operate technology-based devices such as smart phones, tablets, computers, PLCs, operational technology equipment, etc. to carry out normal business operations.Meet or exceed production requirements based on information and or equipment used in the course of work performanceWear safety equipment as prescribed by companyComply with placarding rules when loading or unloading trucksOther Job Requirements :
Participate in ongoing safety program including safety meetings and trainingsMust be available to work any days of the week, any assigned 8-12 hour shiftWillingness to work overtime or weekends as neededGood safety and attendance recordAbility to work cooperatively with other departments and personnelObserve, follow and enforce all company policies and proceduresMust pass pre-employment drug screen and background checkMust pass E-verify checkMust be capable of attaining a TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Credential) card for participating MTSA facilities within Brenntag. Only applicable to MTSA sites.This job has no supervisory responsibilities.Physical Requirements :
Able to pass company physical and all training requirements, including wearing Personal Protective Equipment, which may include a respirator.Able to perform all functions of loading, unloading, packaging, stacking, palletizing, storage, and movement of materialAble to utilize tools and equipment as necessary to perform job tasksStanding and walking for long periods of time, up to 95% of dayMust be able to operate standing & sit-down forklifts, pallet jacks and drum pickers.Must be able to climb stairs and ladders to the top of tanks, tankers and rail carsFrequently exposed to outside weather (from 10% to 75% of the time) sometimes in extreme weather conditionsOur Offer
