Job Summary
The Service-Learning & Civic Engagement Assistant assists with all elements related to our program; this would include assistance with events, class projects. volunteer opportunities and program day to day operations.
- Job Duties include:Communication with faculty, students, staff, and community members related to Service-Learning and Civic Engagement programming.
This individual coordinates details of events, assists students and faculty with service placements, represents the program at meetings and at service project locations, helps transport students to and from service locations, may make class presentations, provides office support (such as data entry and paperwork), and communicates with community partners.
This position requires intensive computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Google Suite and campus systems.
This position will also be responsible for answering the program phone line and program designated email account.
This position works with a diverse population and handles sensitive and confidential student information.
This position also supports events of the Office of Student Life and Leadership at both the Williams and Pecos campuses.
Essential Functions
30% Office support; greets visitors and answers routine questions via phone and email; receives
and refers calls to other team members; and serves as the central point of contact for the program
via program phone line and program email account.
30% Provides support for service/volunteer projects including transportation, class presentations in
preparation for project, verifying attendance, verifying and organizing logistics with community
partners
20% Provides setup and logistical assistance including paperwork, reservations confirmation,
acquiring quotes and submitting fiscal requests for events, and projects
10% Enters data, updates, and verifies data input and retrieves basic report information
5% May update and maintain schedules, calendars and related meeting materials as assigned.
5% Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- Preferred computer skills/experience includes; Google Suite (email, calendar, drive, docs, slides, etc.)
- Microsoft Office, Social media platforms, Virtual event platforms (ex. Google meet, zoom, webex,etc.), Engagement software (Givepulse, Collabratory, Campus Labs) (not required)
- Front-line customer service (in person and on the phone/email) and high level of interpersonal skills are very important as this posistion has frequent contact with campus and community partners.
- Event planning or coordinating
- Experience volunteering or community engagement
- Experience working in an office setting
- Passion for helping others or doing services.
