Family Practice - With OB Physician

The Memphis VA Medical Center has an opening for an on-site Primary Care Women s Health Physician that offers a dual academic appointment with the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC). This position reports directly to the Chief of Primary Care and works as a member of a multidisciplinary healthcare team, collaborating with other members of the team to provide comprehensive Women's Health and Primary Care to female Veterans enrolled in the Women s Health Clinic. The physician is expected to demonstrate advanced competencies and skills in assessing the physical and psycho-social status of patients and family members, play an active role in the multidisciplinary healthcare team, promote preventive health measures, manage the acute and chronic conditions of his / her assigned panel of patients and those patients assigned to other team members when circumstances require.

The Medical Center consists of one main campus and ten community-based outpatient clinics (CBOCs). It s a 1a-complexity tertiary care VA healthcare system located in one of the fastest growing Veteran population regions in the United States. The facility provides comprehensive care to over 47,000 veterans in a 52-county area of Western Tennessee, Northern Mississippi, and Northeast Arkansas. It includes 236 inpatient beds with a 26-bed Spinal Cord Injury Unit. It is a teaching hospital, providing a full range of patient care services, with state-of-the-art technology, as well as extensive education and research programs.
