Role Overview
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for processing accurate and timely payroll for multi-state employees while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role requires hands-on experience with UKG payroll systems and close collaboration with HR, Finance, and external vendors.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Processing
Process bi-weekly, semi-monthly, or monthly payroll using UKG (Pro / Dimensions / Ready, as applicable)
Ensure accurate calculation of wages, overtime, bonuses, commissions, and deductions
Validate payroll data including new hires, terminations, pay changes, and timekeeping entries
Compliance & Reporting
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations
Manage payroll tax filings, garnishments, benefits deductions, and wage attachments
Prepare and review payroll reports, reconciliations, and year-end processing (W-2s, 1095-Cs)
Reconciliations & Controls
Reconcile payroll registers, general ledger entries, and benefit deductions
Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies in a timely manner
Support internal and external audits related to payroll
Collaboration & Support
Partner with HR on employee onboarding, offboarding, and benefit changes
Respond to employee payroll inquiries with professionalism and confidentiality
Assist with special payroll projects and ad hoc reporting
