Carpenter Journeyperson (Norfolk, VA)

Pay : $22.50 – $25.00 / hr

Shift : Full-Time, 40 hrs / week

We are hiring an experienced Carpenter Journeyperson in Norfolk, VA to support marine carpentry, joiner work, and drydock blocking operations. The Carpenter Journeyperson role requires proficiency in layout, fabrication, installation, and repair of wood and composite structures in accordance with drawings, specifications, and shipyard standards.

Responsibilities

• Construct, install, repair, and fabricate wooden and composite structures to protect ship equipment and support drydock / ship outfitting.
• Interpret and work from drawings, job specifications, manuals, handbooks, and change orders.
• Operate Carpenter Shop equipment, hand tools, portable power tools, and fabrication equipment.
• Layout, cut, and fabricate products from blueprints, sketches, and owner specifications.
• Provide OQE (Objective Quality Evidence) and complete all required documentation.
• Maintain clean, safe work areas and comply with OSHA and shipyard safety practices.
• Communicate hazardous conditions, follow written / oral instructions, and handle unexpected job challenges professionally.

Requirements

– Fabrication / installation of Nomex or false deck panels

– Installation of drop ceiling grids and panels

– Installation of Well Deck synthetic decking and batter boards

– Ship window removal and installation

– Array cover fabrication and installation

– Drydock blocking
