At Placemakr home meets hospitality. Weve combined the best of apartment living vacation rentals and hotel stays into one experience. We partner with developers property operators and investors to curate a collection of apartment-like spaces in hand-picked neighborhoods. Our tech-enabled buildings create one-of-a-kind guest experiences and add tremendous value to the underlying real estate. Whether guests are with us for a night a year or somewhere in between these are more than just spaces to spend the night theyre a place to call home.

Our property team members help our buildings thrive by focusing on execution and ensuring a great experience for both residents and guests. Our non-property team members support property execution and the evolution of other areas within our can enjoy remote-first work with the freedom to choose their location as long as they have access to a workspace and reliable Wi-Fi. We believe collaboration is key so our remote-first teams and property leaders have biannual in-person get-togethers at various locations across the US.

As an Area Manager your mission is to challenge motivate engage and lead your team of General and Operations Managers to drive people development and operational and budgetary excellence across your Placemakr properties. You will embody a people-first mindset and instill accountability ownership and innovation in every member of your team.

Reporting directly to the Sr. Director of Properties the Area Manager will utilize a strategic and results-oriented approach to ensuring consistent day-to-day operations financial efficiency positive owner relations and an unmatched experience for our team members guests and residents. As a senior member of our property leadership team this individual will demonstrate exceptional communication skills and will be a world-class collaborator across property and non-property teams. The Area Manager will be a motivational and people-focused leader who is a champion of Placemakrs Community Norms and leads by example to uphold a culture of top performance for leaders and team members alike.

What youll do

  • Consistently provide an exceptional experience to anyone you interact with by embodying what our teams guests residents and partners should think of as a trusted friend subject matter expert and local insider.
  • Foster a one team mentality by collaborating effectively with all property and non-property leaders and team members contributing to a cohesive and supportive work environment.
  • Maintain a safe secure and compliant environment for leaders team members and guests by adhering to and driving accountability for established Placemakr and property-specific policies and procedures including emergency protocols attendance policies and conduct expectations.
  • Embody Placemakr leadership competencies by driving accountability developing motivating challenging and engaging your team of General and / or Operations Managers ensuring excellence in people leadership operations and finances of your properties.
  • Observe and provide support to your team of leaders ensuring all on-site team members receive clear expectations and an understanding of their performance and development.
  • In partnership with property and non-property leadership provide initial and ongoing training for your leaders on Placemakr people operational and financial SOPs and programs.
  • Collaborate with senior property leaders and PX team to ideate and drive execution of people-related initiatives that will support hiring engagement retention and development of all property team members.
  • In tandem with your leaders and cross-functional partners collaborate with Placemakrs PX and TA teams on talent acquisition efforts including driving process consistency and engaging in grassroots or in-person recruiting initiatives to hire top talent.
  • Assess areas of opportunity in people operations and finances across your portfolio by observing your teams and utilizing Placemakr systems or reporting.
  • Use an outside-the-box mindset to find solutions that support Placemakr brand standards and provide hands-on assistance for on-site issues that require escalated leadership or expertise.
  • Collaborate with senior property leaders and cross-functional team members including Centralized and Off-Site Operations FAA Business Analytics and Tech Ops leaders to ideate and drive operational reporting and financial efficacy initiatives across all Placemakr properties.
  • Drive NOI and overall financial success of your properties by guiding your General and Operations Managers in budgetary efficiency and analyzing and optimizing spend / save based on property-specific initiatives.
  • Own all partner and owner relations for your owned properties including presenting monthly financials and communicating business updates effectively.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned

What it takes

  • A bachelors degree preferably in management business administration communications hospitality or a related field; or commensurate experience in lieu of a formal degree
  • 5 years experience in a leadership role within retail food & beverage hospitality multi-family or similar environment where customer service is at the heart of the operation
  • A minimum of 3 years experience of successful multi-unit leadership; retail food & beverage multi-family or hospitality-focused experience strongly preferred
  • A demonstrated track record of operational and financial success made possible by a true customer-focus managing controllable expenses driving team performance effective decision-making skills and a solutions-oriented mindset
  • Experience working with various levels of field-based leadership on team member relationship issues and retention engagement succession planning performance management and / or growth and development initiatives
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and the ability to deliver a message clearly and professionally across varying levels of team members and external partners
  • A hands-on leader and world-class motivator who takes an active role in growing and developing their team
  • Ability to manage cross-functional relationships competing priorities and time and resources proactively in a fast-paced ever-changing environment
  • Ability to travel to your properties as the needs of the business call for it (approximately 75% of the time)

  • Area Managers will be on their feet and moving around (stand sit or walk for an extended time) and taking a hands-on approach to work (move lift carry push pull and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistance). Doing all these things well (and other reasonable job duties as requested) is critical for our Area Managers and an exceptional guest experience.
