We are seeking a dynamic and dependable Full-Time Ophthalmic Assistant / Clinical Tester. As a key part of our team, you will provide vital chair-side assistance to doctors, conduct essential diagnostic tests as required by ophthalmologists, and offer treatments as directed by the physician.
Key Responsibilities :
- Gather patient history, including chief complaint, current health issues, medical history (ocular and general), family history (ocular and general), and any allergies or medications.
- Manage patient flow to ensure that the physician's exam rooms are efficiently occupied.
- Perform duties similar to an ophthalmic writer / scribe.
- Accurately document and measure the following :
- Visual acuity
- Manual lensometry
- Confrontational visual fields
- Stereopsis
- Motility
- Pupillary function
- Color Plates
- Applanation tonometry
- Humphrey Visual Field
- Educate patients by discussing physician-generated instructions and supplying appropriate educational materials as directed.
- Maintain cleanliness and stock levels in exam rooms.
- Be willing to travel to various office locations and work with any assigned doctor.
- Assist with interdepartmental tasks as required by supervisors or physicians.
Qualifications :
High School Diploma or equivalent GED is required.A minimum of two (2) years experience in a medical office or healthcare setting; ophthalmology experience is preferred.Core Competencies :
Exceptional verbal communication skills; proficiency in English and Spanish is a plus.Strong writing skills with accurate spelling.Outstanding customer / patient service skills; professionalism and respect are essential.A collaborative team player.Meticulous attention to detail.Proficient computer skills.
