Position: Swine Production Consultant

Independence, Iowa area
Focus: Wean-to-Market Production

What You’ll Do

As a Swine Production Consultant, you’ll play a key role in the success of our clients by providing expert support in pig care, site management, and production performance. Your work will directly impact animal well-being and operational outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver technical support and industry expertise to producers and partners
• Implement wean-to-market best practices to optimize pig flow, performance, marketing, revenue & costs
• Oversee pig care, feed/water systems, ventilation, facilities, and veterinary protocols
• Conduct site visits and document findings
• Select pigs for market loads
• Educate and coach site managers
• Review key production metrics with clients
• Build strong relationships with producers, veterinarians, nutritionists, and internal teams
• Uphold PIPESTONE’s biosecurity, animal welfare & safety standards
• Represent PIPESTONE core values in every interaction

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s in Agriculture or Animal Science (preferred but not required)
• Experience in wean-to-market swine production
• Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills
• Ability to manage change and drive results
• Customer service experience is a plus
• Valid driver's license & insurable record

Work Environment

• Nursery & finishing sites in rural locations
• May require hearing protection; exposure to typical swine production environments

Physical Requirements

• On your feet up to 10 hours/day
• Lifting 3–20 lbs frequently, up to 50 lbs occasionally, and up to 100 lbs with assistance
• Ability to drive long distances
• Effective verbal & written communication
