QUALIFICATIONS :

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience as an administrative assistant.
  • Knowledge of key computer components and operation
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills
  • Able to meet and deal with the public in a positive manner
  • Demonstrated aptitude or competence for all assigned responsibilities
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board of education may find appropriate and acceptable.

REPORTS TO : Building Administrator

JOB GOAL : To assure the smooth and efficient operation of the school office so that the office's maximum positive impact on the education of students can be realized

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

  • Prepare and submit state reporting.
  • Maintain the building master calendar and NHS building calendar.
  • Process, distribute, create and maintain facility use permits for school events.
  • Assist staff, students, parents and teachers with data questions and problems within the student information system.
  • Review student attendance weekly in order to prepare and send truancy letters.
  • Assist in providing a smooth operation within the office / building.
  • Greet and assist visitors to the building.
  • Prepare and distribute out of school suspension and expulsion packets.
  • Assist staff members absence and timesheet information.
  • Prepare, schedule and send mass communication to parents.
  • Plan and organize events.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding student and staff information in order to remain in compliance with legal requirements and to maintain a professional work environment.
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned by the building administrator for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
  • TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT : Wage and length of employment to be established by the board of education.

    EVALUATION : Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the board's policy on evaluation of classified personnel.
