We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Humble, Texas. In this role, you will play a critical part in managing financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting various reporting functions. Responsibilities :
- Maintain and manage general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Perform month-end and quarter-end closing activities, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
- Prepare variance analysis reports to compare actual financial results against budgets and prior periods, providing insights into key discrepancies.
- Process and review complex journal entries across multiple departments, ensuring all transactions are supported by proper documentation.
- Develop and deliver internal financial reports and schedules for management and business unit leaders.
- Conduct monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts to identify and resolve discrepancies efficiently.
- Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and enhance internal controls.
- Assist with audit preparations by compiling schedules and documentation needed for external reviews.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and established financial controls.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of progressive experience in corporate or public accounting, with a focus on general ledger management.
- Proficiency in preparing journal entries, conducting variance analysis, and performing month-end close procedures.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and its practical application.
- Experience with large-scale accounting systems such as SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, coupled with strong communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
