Scrub Tech

Position Summary

The Scrub Tech supports surgical procedures by preparing the operating room, maintaining sterile technique, and assisting the surgical team throughout operative cases. The technologist ensures all instruments, supplies, and equipment are available, functional, and properly arranged to support safe and efficient surgical care. This role requires strict adherence to sterile processing, infection control, and operating room safety standards. On-call and call-back participation is required for this position.
Key Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room with required instruments, supplies, and equipment for scheduled and emergent procedures.
• Maintain sterile technique and ensure sterility of the operative field at all times.
• Assist surgeons and circulating staff during procedures by anticipating needs and passing instruments appropriately.
• Verify instrument functionality and report missing or damaged items promptly.
• Handle surgical specimens according to established protocol.
• Assist with room turnover, equipment cleaning, and preparation between cases.
• Collaborate with surgical, nursing, anesthesia, and SPD teams to support efficient workflow.
• Uphold all safety, infection control, and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in required on-call and call-back rotations; applicants must be willing to accept call assignments.

Qualifications (Legally Required)

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program preferred.
• Current BLS (AHA) certification.
• Minimum 2 years of recent OR Scrub Tech experience in an acute care hospital.
• Knowledge of sterile technique, surgical instruments, and OR procedures required.

Shift Details

• 8-hour shifts.
• On-call and call-back required; only candidates willing to accept call should apply.
