Position Summary : The Controller is responsible for leading financial operations as we scale rapidly across both government and commercial sectors. They will be responsible for the integrity of financial operations, compliance, controls, and reporting while building a high-performing team aligned to our strategic growth goals.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities :
Leads the development and scaling of a high-performing finance team; fosters a data-driven culture, continuous improvement, automation, and transparency.Oversees the core accounting functions : accounts payable / receivable, billing, payroll, month-end closing, financial reporting, and risk management, with indirect oversight of budgeting and forecasting. Ensures consistency in month-end close and analysis of financial results.Drives accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with GAAP and in compliance with federal contracting regulations (FAR, DFARS, CAS).Manages revenue recognition in line with ASC 606 and project-based accounting methodologies.Leads audits and compliance activities with external agencies, including DCAA, CPA firms, and government regulators.Prepares and manages indirect rate budgets, incurred cost submissions, and forward pricing models.Maintains general ledger and balance sheet accuracy; manages internal controls and ensures compliance across all accounting functions.Serves as liaison with third-party advisors (audit, legal, tax) and internal stakeholders (executive team, program leaders).Oversees ERP / financial system integrity and upgrades; leads efforts to streamline and modernize financial operations.Ensures timely submission of all federal, state, and local tax requirements.Provides clear company-wide communications regarding financial policies, payroll, and compliance.Leads cash management and treasury functions, including banking relationships and daily liquidity oversight.Interfaces directly with banking partners and private equity strategic investors to support capital planning, covenant compliance, and financial transparency.Adheres to all certified processes as part of our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of quality and information security, which includes actively participating in quality assurance activities and ensuring the protection of sensitive information in accordance with our security policies.Performs other related tasks as assigned.Required / Desired Qualifications :
Education, Training, and Experience :
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or another related field (CPA or CMA preferred).10+ years of progressive accounting / finance leadership experience, with 5+ years in Government Contracting.Proficiency in accounting software (with experience in Unanet or Deltek Costpoint preferred) and Microsoft Excel.Experience in ERP system administration (Unanet preferred).Proven experience building and leading high-performing finance teams in high-growth companies.Specific skills, knowledge, and abilities :
Deep understanding of GAAP, FAR, DFARS, and CAS; experience with DCAA audits and government compliance.Strong working knowledge of financial systems (experience with Unanet or SAP preferred).In-depth understanding of financial reporting and internal controls.Ability to analyze financial data, identify trends, and provide insightful recommendations.Attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.Ability to lead and motivate a team, manage performance, and delegate effectively.Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate financial information to various stakeholders.Ability to identify and resolve financial issues and challenges.Compensation :
In accordance with pay transparency law, the expected salary range for this position is $170,000 $200,000 annually. The actual compensation offered will be determined based on factors such as the candidate's experience, qualifications, skills, and location. We are committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. This posted range reflects our good faith estimate of the compensation we reasonably expect to offer for this role at the time of posting.
