Community Director

The Community Director (CD) reporting to an Assistant Director for Residential Districts or to a Program Manager is a member of the Residential Education team. This individual provides residents and student-staff living in the dorm with support and leadership, promotes a positive community, educates about residential community standards, and provides crisis response and management. Depending on the assigned community, the Community Director may supervise a Graduate Community Director or work with an Assistant Community Director to co-administer daily activities. This is a twelve-month fiscal (year-round), live-in staff position, 40-hour a week and will require evening and weekend commitments. Serves on a 24 / 7 duty rotation that provides crisis response management.

Duties & Responsibilities

Supervision

• Manage building communities ranging from 60-1000 residents : 6-26 Resident Assistants, and possibly a Graduate Community Director, Lead RA, and / or Office Assistant.
• Facilitate individual one-on-one meetings with supervisees to engage in ongoing professional and community development, review student and facilities concerns, and evaluate staff.
• Oversee weekly staff meetings to review Wildcat Living Curriculum, departmental notices, student and facilities updates, and ongoing training.
• Administer staff selection and evaluation processes.
• Aid in the development and execution of departmental trainings around interpersonal communication, relationship building, conflict mediation, crisis management, and cultural competency skills.

This position is Exempt, Full Time, 40 hours per week, with a salary range of $42,282 - $52,851. The position is within the PC2 career stream and the Residence Life job family, with a grade of 5. The university offers compensation growth opportunities within its career architecture.
