Responsibilities
Position Summary : The Patient Advocate serves as a vital liaison between patients, their families, and hospital staff. This role is responsible for promoting and protecting patient rights, addressing and resolving concerns, and enhancing the overall patient experience. The advocate works to improve patient engagement and satisfaction while supporting essential hospital operations and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
Garfield Park Behavioral Hospital is dedicated to providing behavioral health and psychiatric support to children and teens ages 3 to 17. Qualifications
JOB SPECIFICATIONS : To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate competency in the criteria listed in this job description. The specifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability to meet the minimum requirements for this position. Staff must demonstrate flexibility for reassignment to units providing care to varied populations including children, adolescents, pre adolescents and adults.
Education : High School diploma or GED required. Associates or Bachelors Degree preferred.
Experience : One-year customer service experience required; experience within the healthcare field strongly preferred.
Knowledge : Knowledge of patient rights, hospital operations and healthcare regulations preferred. Strong ability to work cooperatively with other hospital staff, patients and patient families and involved community agencies. Excellent organization skills, as well as oral and written communication and active listening skills. Ability to build trust, resolve conflict and maintain confidentiality.
