Job Title : Family & Community Engagement (FACE) Manager

Work Location : Center-based with travel to all BKS sites
Schedule : Full-time (40 hours / week)
Position Summary
The Family & Community Engagement (FACE) Manager leads BKS’s family partnership, engagement, community collaboration efforts, and student recruitment operations across all center sites. This position ensures alignment with / DECE requirements, Article 47, the Head Start PFCE Framework, and BKS’s mission to support whole-child and whole-family development.
The FACE Manager supports centers with student recruitment, enrollment, and family engagement. This role strengthens community networks, ensures quality and compliance in family documentation, and promotes a welcoming, culturally responsive environment for all families.
Key Responsibilities
Student Enrollment
Provide support / coaching to all Family Workers and Family Parent Engagement Worker.
Build and maintain relationships with local community organizations, health clinics, shelters, libraries, and family-serving agencies to support steady student referrals.
Coordinate and attend community events, fairs, and outreach opportunities to promote organization’s visibility and engage prospective families.
Support centers with community canvassing and leading informational sessions, tours, and open houses for prospective families.
Monitor enrollment trends, and provide weekly updates to leadership on progress toward targets.
Collaborate with center staff and Family Workers to identify classrooms / sites with enrollment gaps and execute targeted outreach strategies.
Oversee digital recruitment strategies, including website updates, social media outreach, and marketing campaigns in collaboration with Communications.
Maintain updated recruitment materials (flyers, brochures, digital assets) and ensure brand consistency across all outreach efforts.
Facilitate staff training on best practices for recruitment, family engagement, and effective communication with prospective families.
Oversee data entry and record-keeping in enrollment systems to ensure compliance with Head Start, Pre-K, or other funder requirements.
Family Engagement
Provide support to Family Workers and Family Engagement staff.
Ensure compliance with NYCPS DECE family engagement mandates, including timelines for Family Partnership Agreements (FPA), conferences, communication, and documentation.
Support centers in developing strong family relationships and maintaining a welcoming, inclusive environment.
Family Partnership & Support
Oversee the Family Partnership Agreement (FPA) process, ensuring timely completion and meaningful family goals.
Monitor follow-ups to ensure families receive targeted support in areas such as housing, food access, employment, health services, and crisis response.
Plan and implement parent workshops, conferences, and family involvement activities.
Community Engagement & Partnerships
Build and maintain relationships with local organizations, food distribution partners, health and mental health providers, adult education programs, and city agencies.
Coordinate community resource events and ensure centers are connected to supportive neighborhood networks.
Maintain a current directory of community partners and referrals.
Compliance, Data & Documentation
Ensure 100% compliance with all required family engagement and student enrollment documentation and annual reports
Support centers during compliance visits (DECE, DOHMH, ACS, Head Start), investigations, or quality reviews related to enrollment and family engagement
Monitors data entry into key data systems such as ChildPlus, Vendor Portal, MySchools, and ParentSquare.
Staff Support and Development
Provide regular guidance and support to Family Services staff.
Lead onboarding for new Family Workers and FACE-related staff.
Provide coverage for Family Worker vacancies, as needed.
Family Communication & Conflict Resolution
Serve as a point of escalation for complex family matters, navigating issues with sensitivity and professionalism.
Support staff in de-escalation and conflict resolution using trauma-informed and culturally respectful approaches.
Respond to family concerns in a timely and solution-driven manner.
Qualifications
Education & Certifications
Bachelor’s degree required (Social Work, Human Services, Early Childhood, Public Administration, or related field).
Master’s degree preferred (MSW, MPA, M.Ed., LMHC).
Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Minimum 5 years of experience in family engagement, social work, or community services (ECE experience preferred).
Experience on coaching staff in family-facing roles.
Working knowledge of NYCPS / DECE expectations and the PFCE Framework.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and culturally responsive engagement skills.
Ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion and professionalism.
Proficiency in case management systems and digital data platforms.
Strong organizational skills and experience coordinating events or workshops.
Bilingual skills in Spanish or Haitian Creole preferred.
Performance Metrics (KPIs)Family Engagement & Participation
85–100% of Family Partnership Agreements (FPAs) completed within NYCPS or Head Start timelines.
Documented follow-up on 100% of FPA family goals within 30 days.
2–3 parent workshops per center per year, with attendance recorded.
70%+ family participation in events, conferences, or engagement activities.
Compliance & Documentation
100% compliance with documentation standards (case notes, CIRS entries, attendance support, referrals).
100% on-time submission of compliance reports and monthly summaries.
Community Partnerships
Establish 3+ new community partnerships annually.
Maintain updated partnership directory each quarter.
Host 1 community resource event per center annually.
Operational & Attendance Metrics
Visit each BKS center at 2 monthly, more frequently as needed.
Participate in all NYCPS compliance visits related to family engagement and student enrollment.
Lead or co-lead 2-4 agency-wide engagement initiatives annually.
Physical Requirements
Ability to travel between BKS centers frequently.
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs for family events or materials.
Prolonged standing, walking, or participation in community events.
Work Environment
Center-based role with frequent travel; occasional evening or weekend activities for family support and events.
