A. Overall Purpose of the Job
This position will support the US Department of Veterans Affairs Critical Staffing Program. The person in this
position will represent International SOS Government Medical Services Inc. and provide services outlined
below :
Provide outpatient professional medical coding leadership and coordination to meet Veterans Affairs (VA)
standards for timeliness and accuracy; query providers to resolve documentation issues; ensure compliance
with Veterans Health Administration (VHA) Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Health
B. Key Responsibilities
Review provider medical record coding for completeness and accuracy; clarify and correct as necessary.
Process record coding within seven (7) calendar days.
Achieve 95% accuracy for Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) / Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) Evaluation and Management (E / M) and International Classification of Diseases Tenth Revision Clinical Modification (ICD10CM) / Procedure Coding System (ICD10PCS) as applicable.
Query providers via email or VistA Integration Revenue and Reporting (VIRR) using an approved form.
Close VIRR queries no later than thirty (30) days after date of discharge or service; record final impact at closure.
Provide coding guidance; develop training materials; present ongoing training; coordinate assign and monitor workflow; orient and instruct new coding personnel and / or students; provide input for performance evaluations and hiring. (Leadonly not supervisory).
Ensure audit findings and claim denials related to coding errors are resolved; correct daily coding rejections for accurate billing and data collection.
Provide required reports and briefings to the designated Central Texas Veterans Health Care System (CTVHCS) point of contact and the Contracting Officers Representative (COR).
Meet regularly with the COR and Contracting Officer (CO) with agendas and minutes addressing timeliness accuracy and completeness.
Submit quality assurance / quality improvement (QA / QI) reports and other CORrequired reports per Services Summary threshold.
Use Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS) Veterans Health Information Systems and Technology Architecture (VistA) and VistA Integration Revenue and Reporting (VIRR) including the Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN)mandated Evaluation and Management (E / M) calculator.
Apply official coding references : ICD10 Official Coding Guidelines; CPT Assistant; Coding Clinic; National Correct Coding Initiative (NCCI); and CMS guidance.
Perform 100% data validation of assigned encounters and maintain documentation for COR review; keep abreast of regulatory changes affecting coded information.
Complete required organizational compliance education including assigned requirements that are client-specified for Joint Commission Healthcare Staffing Services certification or other regulatory bodies.

Basic Requirements / Certifications American : (must possess at least one and maintain from the Health Information Management Association (AHIMA)
Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)
Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Coding SpecialistPhysician-based (CCS-P)
Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
American Academy of Professional Coders Certified Professional Coder (CPC)
Experience :
Minimum three (3) years of continuous coding experience in a facility with a patient population equal to or greater than the VA

Pay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical financial and / or other benefits. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicants background experience skills internal equity and alignment with geographical market data.
