Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Multicraft Service Technician with a strong electrical foundation and solid mechanical aptitude to service, troubleshoot, and repair steel plate cutting machines and other manufacturing equipment across a 500-mile territory. You will be the on-site expert, delivering diagnostics, repairs, preventative maintenance, and customer support to keep production running safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain steel plate cutting machines, focusing on 70% electrical and 30% mechanical aspects.
• Perform preventative maintenance and system calibrations to ensure optimal performance.
• Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings for troubleshooting and repairs.
• Install upgrades and components; verify system functionality and safety compliance.
• Document service activities, parts usage, and provide recommendations for future maintenance.
• Communicate clearly with customers and internal teams; provide post-service follow-up.
• Travel regularly within a 500-mile radius using a company-provided vehicle for installs, maintenance, and repairs.
• Work with CNC-controlled machines and Fanuc industrial robots as part of service tasks.
• Conduct electrical troubleshooting at an industrial level, including 480V systems and 3-phase motors.
• Perform mechanical repairs, which are secondary to electrical skills.
• Perform PLC troubleshooting for diagnostics purposes.

Essential Skills

• 3+ years of experience as a field service technician or industrial maintenance technician.
• Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, including AC/DC, drives, motors, PLC basics, and sensors.
• Mechanical proficiency in gearboxes, pneumatics/hydraulics basics, alignment, and rigging safety.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documentation and schematics.
• Familiarity with manufacturing environments and safety standards, such as LOTO, PPE, and OSHA.
• Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and customer-service skills.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within the territory.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in industrial environments.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Strong electrical knowledge at an industrial level is preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude, with a preference for electrical expertise over mechanical.
• Familiarity with CNC machines and Fanuc processes.
• Ability to troubleshoot control systems.
• Preferred backgrounds include industrial maintenance and HVAC service technicians.

Work Environment

Our technicians work in industrial, often dirty environments, traveling within a 500-mile radius from the home base. The schedule typically involves day trips with periodic overnight stays, but no weekend work is expected except in rare cases. Flexibility is provided for personal matters such as family commitments and doctor appointments.

The pay range for this position is $54080.00 - $72800.00/yr.
