Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a night shift ICU position at a Magnet Level I trauma center, requiring a MO or compact license and strong critical care skills.
Responsibilities
Position is in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) within a short-term acute care hospitalPatient population includes medical and surgical ICU patients, pre / post cardiac, thoracic, abdominal surgeries, medicine and neuromedicine overflow, transplant, and end-of-life / organ donation careNurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 2Requires working every other weekend on night shifts (4x12 hours, 19 : 00–07 : 30)No on-call responsibilitiesFloating required within service line to other ICU unitsEpic EMR is used and Epic experience is preferredUnit utilizes IV pumps, CRRT / dialysis, ventilators, BiPAP, hemodynamic and invasive monitoring, and defibrillatorsMain responsibilities include caring for critically ill adult patients with conditions such as respiratory failure, sepsis, cardiac arrest, DKA, ARDS, and multi-organ failureHoliday coverage and charge RN assignments may be required as needed by the unitNavy scrubs are required for this assignmentPre-start online modules required and must be completed prior to beginning the assignmentNo more than 7 days of requested time off allowed per 13-week contract, with no time off approved during the first weekTravelers can remain on assignment for up to 18 months with a required 3-month break afterwardRequirements
Active MO or compact RN license requiredBLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications requiredMinimum 2 years ICU experience requiredMust have experience with medical and surgical ICU skills including dysrhythmia interpretation, ventilator management, cardiac and vasoactive drip titration, and management of multisystem organ failureEpic charting experience preferredNo first-time travelers acceptedCandidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facilityPermanent employees must wait one year before returning as a travelerBenefits
