Job Summary :
The Construction Supervisor oversees day-to-day planning and execution of construction projects performed by company and contractor teams. This role ensures all projects meet company standards, specifications, and schedule requirements while maximizing Return on Investment (ROI). The position manages construction permitting, coordinates resource allocation, and works closely with planning personnel to prioritize and execute planned construction activities. The supervisor also leads continuous improvement (CI) efforts and manages a team with a span of control of up to 5 jobs and approximately 15 FTEs.
Key Responsibilities :
- Ensure contractor work meets company standards, procedures, and qualification requirements.
- Oversee construction schedules and coordinate activities across stakeholder groups.
- Maintain and communicate up-to-date construction action plans.
- Resolve escalated project issues and collaborate with contractors, customers, and agencies to find solutions.
- Review as-built drawings and approve contractor payments.
- Partner with planning teams to optimize technical designs and cost-effective installations.
- Apply new construction materials and technologies as appropriate.
- Identify and implement process improvements that increase efficiency.
- Monitor staff workload, productivity, and resource balance to ensure timely project delivery.
- Serve as liaison between union and management, ensuring consistent application of the CBA.
- Lead CI initiatives, establish performance metrics, and promote knowledge sharing.
- Perform full supervisory responsibilities including staffing, coaching, performance management, time entry, budgeting, and reporting.
- May serve as key tag protection leader or job leader per company policy.
Other Requirements :
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Maximo, and related software (1+ year of experience preferred).Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.Solid knowledge of project management processes, design, procurement, and construction management.Experience managing multiple projects and working directly with customers.Ability to implement project planning and continuous improvement methods.Ability to address resistance constructively and prevent recurrence of issues.
